- No remorse
Some actions were taken which were not according with my wishes:
- Changed the escort time to the Cemetery.
- The funeral procession waiting in the Cemetery for an hour as a result of Tina's unauthorized last minute changes to the schedule without conversing with me first. In addition, she did not provide any updates to the family as we waited in our vehicles. ( This time could have been used instead for final best wishes from friends and family at the church )
- When the casket was finally opened for the viewing at the end of the funeral service the body was "oily" looking and wasn't properly presented in the casket (laid very low than it should ).
- She spoke to the pastor the morning of the funeral service and changed the service time ( ending it 1 hour earlier ). This is not the time to make last minute changes that were never requested by the family.
It's been two months ( October 2015 ) since my dad passed away, and has now given me time to reflect on the level of service my family received from Christina (Tina ) and Greg ( Brother ) from Hartnett Funeral Home. I initially dealt with Tina who at first came across helpful in my time of need. However, in time that all changed the day of the funeral service.
Very disappointing
For the type of service provided, I truly feel; Tina & Greg, who represents a business that deals with such a sensitive matter of assisting with funeral arrangements for your loved one(s) were very cold and lacked basic heart felt emotions. Again, both Greg and Tina in the beginning gave you the illusion that you are in good hands, however in the end they lack basic customer service skills and both have poor attitudes and I'm sorry my family and I had to deal with them in our time of grieving ( never again ).
- Never complied with my mother's wishes to have the casket open before the service started and offered an excuse instead.
In closing, let me say what my mother expressed to Tina before ending the phone conversation, that she would never or could ever recommend anyone in good faith to Hartnett Funeral Home.
Since then there has been no additional contact or follow up from either of them.
- Tina's behavior tarnished the last memories of my father.
- Plans were altered on her own without any approval from me
Hartnett Funeral Home and Tina was PAID IN FULL before my father was even buried ( certified check and cash ). I found out later that was a huge mistake on my part. By doing so this left my family with no recourse for any kind of compensation. I later then spoke with Greg to express how dissatisfied I was with the level of service rendered by his sister (Tina ). His approach, was to defend his sister at all cost and stated his sister did nothing wrong. He wasn't even willing to apologize for his sister's actions. I was also warned by a pastor in the local area before making the decision to go with them, and was told not to use HARTNETT FUNERAL HOME or use them as a last resort. I told Tina about the negative feedback from a pastor in the local area before making my final decision, and Tina replied, “ I think I know who it is and he is probably getting a kick back from other funeral homes in the area “ which I now know is not true. This pastor gave me good advice, but I FAILED to take it. In addition, since Tina or Greg wasn't willing to reach out or follow up with my mother, consequently, my mother had to contact them and expressed how dissatisfied she was with the level of service and empathy towards her and her family after using their services to put her late husband to rest.
- No heartfelt apology was given to myself or my family
